Darryl Glenn Baird  -  Aqueous Humor Series0

Images in the circular format of a lens or through a filmic pinhole present the round dance of comic images from early media history. “Mindmaps,” physical models, instruction manuals, advertisements, private snapshots, early motion studies, extras and stars of the silver screen are formed into a nostalgic montage under the slogan, “We’re everywhere great pictures are happening.”

Paul Berger  - Card Plates / Warp & Weft

“Card Plates” is Berger’s largest possible digital compression of the multimedia world: a graphic grid of infinitely interwoven “service elements” from photography, drawing, film, video and synthetic images such as 3-D imagery. Space and time are transformed into a digital utopia. “Warp & Weft” responds to this theme with photographic tableaux from the private sphere.

Susan E. Evans  -  Implements  of Terror

Installations from the everyday of photographic images, visual communication, advertising, and propaganda. “Implements of Terror” presents well-arranged media tools in a different light in order to present a critique of post-9/11 concepts of security. These images function as experiments for us to check our preparedness to examine manipulated messages from the everyday world in order to see if they function as devices for social controll.

Paula Gillen  - NY - Collages

Comedy, Artifice, and the Grotesque: Bad Girls by the clothesline, voyeuristic eyes, and bar codes on bare skin, painterly-expressionistic body-art, projections and sculptures, parallels and paradoxes, painting, theatre, gymnastics, film, and photography: it’s all there in Gillen’s multi-facetted collages.

Lisdebertus  -  Unfathomable Humanity

„Nothing is more monstrous than man“ [Sophocles]. At the turn of the 21st century evil remains a primary drive in mankind. Lisderbertus  presents collages of photographs, paintings, sketches, and composites from various epochs and media. These images depict the continuity of scorn, intolerance, horror, violence and terror in images from Aztec human sacrifice, to the “mistreatments” in Abu Ghraib.

Stephen Marc  -  Passages on the Underground  Railroad

With more that 30,000 images Stephen Marc has documented the places of the “Underground Railroad,” the country-wide system organized to help slaves escape from the South before and during the time of the American Civil War. The landscapes, historic buildings, hiding places, and sanctuaries of a repressed African-American culture are presented through the use of digital panoramas.

Deborah O’Grady  -  The Soldier’s Dream

A meditation on the dual nature of war between Hell and Paradise. O’Grady combines historical images from the Second World War with her own color photographs of mythological and religious motives of art, nature, and family. The distraught  two-sided aspect of the military mythology is played out with images of sacrifice and immortality, barbarism and idealism, cruelty and redemption.

Warren Padula  -  The Uncertainty  Principle

Large format colour photographs of the remains of accidents and relentlessly aestheticized details with neither pre-history nor context, artifacts from smashed up tin, deformed chrome and shattered glass. The invisible hand of traffic and the physics of chance convert only just the most shiny, polished automobile into pure junk: a luxuriously unbearable variant of J.G. Ballard’s brilliant dystopia, Crash.

Darryl Glenn Baird  -   Aqueous Humor Series

Paul Berger  -  Card Plates / Warp & Weft

Susan E. Evans  -  Implements of Terror

Stephen Marc  -  Passages on the Underground Railroad

Deborah O’Grady  -  The Soldier’s Dream

Warren Padula  -  The Uncertainty Principle

Ballards Verkehrs-Anti-Utopie Crash.
